Sometimes we all need a little extra help.

Those that follow me on social media or visit my retreats know that I am a big fan of brands such as Udo's Choice, their omega oil blend and Beyond Greens fermented greens powder are everyday staples in my fridge.

So, it'll come as no surprise that they feature again as recommended specialist support supplements for my new G-Plan gut-healthy weight loss plan.

But, for the G-Plan diet I've also decided to boost my smoothie and baking recipes with a unique bundle of four ingredients, naturally delivering the nutrition that’s hard to find in everyday shopping ingredients.  Besides, they all taste great too!

Read why I chose the fabulous four that make up my new G-Plan Diet support pack - they are 100% certified organic and are available as part of the online coaching programme www.gplandiet.com

Chia

Chia seeds are one of the most powerful, functional, and nutritious foods in the world. The chia seed is an excellent source of fibre, is packed with antioxidants, full of protein, and is loaded with vitamins and minerals.  Most significantly, the chia seed is the richest known plant source of omega-3 fatty acids, making it an excellent way to balance intake of essential fats. The versatility of the chia seed also made it a must-have for your kit. Ground up they can be mixed with water as egg replacement, soaked they make a delicious chia porridge or pudding, or they can be scattered as a pretty and nutritious topping.

Cacao

Chocolatey cacao is raw cocoa in its unadulterated state, leaving it’s many nutrients in tact. It comes from the seed of an Amazonian fruit tree and is a well-established source of of magnesium, iron, manganese, and chromium - and what’s known as the “bliss chemical”. Indeed, you may choose to believe, or enjoy, the fact that cacao powder is thought to enhance not only mood but libido too. If that’s not enough of an incentive to add into your recipes, it is thought to help lower blood pressure, boost healthy nail and hair growth and support natural immunity. I just couldn’t leave it out!

Spirulina

It’s blue-green, it’s an algae and it’s ridiculously healthy. As one of the most researched and popular health ingredients, it is now found in a high percentage of healthy snack foods and smoothies - so I thought we’d join in the fun!  It’s antimicrobial properties make it a must-have for a gut makeover too.  Although the flavour is powerful, I’ve created recipes that balance benefits with flavour. If you are a fan of greens, this will soon be your favourite booster.

Maca

The fourth place in the kit was a hard-contested spot but in the end, maca powder was a clear winner. Maca is considered an “adaptogen”, a name given to certain natural ingredients that help the body naturally adapt to stressors - indeed, this family of herbs and plants has been predicted as the big health trend for 2017.  Maca’s medicinal benefits have been used for thousands of years in regions of the Andes mountains so it is my nod to the wisdom of the ancients too.The malty flavour also makes it a winner in the flavour stakes.

The pack comes with a bonus e-book of extra recipes - but don't forget to share your own smoothie and baking ideas with me on Instagram!
